Rinjani Permit & eRinjani Registration: 2026 Rules

Every Mount Rinjani trek requires a national park permit, booked in advance through the official eRinjani system. There are daily quotas, an entrance fee, and an insurance requirement. A local operator handles all of this for you, which is one of the main reasons to book with one.

What the permit covers

The permit is your authorization to enter Gunung Rinjani National Park. It is tied to a specific entry date and route, which is why your trek dates and starting point, Sembalun or Senaru, must be fixed before registration. See Sembalun vs Senaru to choose.

The eRinjani system and daily quotas

Permits are issued through an online booking system with a cap on how many trekkers can start each day on each route. In peak season, popular dates sell out, so early booking matters. This is also why the mountain can show as “closed” online when quotas are full rather than for safety reasons, check the current status if you’re unsure.

Fees and insurance

There is a park entrance fee, typically higher for foreign visitors than domestic, plus a mandatory trekking insurance component. A good package bundles both into your price, so you don’t pay separately at the gate. We break down what’s included in the cost guide.

What you need to provide

  • Full name exactly as on your passport
  • Passport number and nationality
  • Your trek dates and chosen route

Your operator uses these to register your permit, so give them accurate details when you book.

Rules change, sometimes fast

Rinjani’s regulations have shifted in recent years around closures, quotas, and fire-risk restrictions. The safest approach is to let a local operator who tracks the park announcements handle registration, rather than trying to navigate the system yourself from abroad. When you book a Qimi Summit package, your permit and insurance are arranged for you.
