Package A — Summit & Torean Route

Mount Rinjani Trekking 4D3N — Summit & Torean Route

Moderate TO Challenge · Dual Crater Rim · Slow Program

"Most people climb Rinjani. Very few get to see it disappear behind them." The Summit.
The Most Scenic Descent
in Southeast Asia.

Most Rinjani packages rush you through the mountain to check off boxes. This one is built differently. The 4D3N Sembalun–Senaru program is a slow, complete Rinjani experience — designed for trekkers who want to see everything the mountain offers without spending the whole journey catching their breath. You reach the summit. You spend time at the lake. You cross both crater rims. And you have enough downtime in between to actually feel it.

Starting from Sembalun and finishing at Senaru, this route gives you a traverse across the mountain — two very different trails, two very different views, one complete picture of what Rinjani really is. It’s the route guides recommend when someone asks which program they should do first.

Make Your Way to Senaru. We Handle Everything from Here.. Arrival Day · Senaru Village · Briefing & Rest "The best kind of anticipation is the kind you sleep through."

Head to Senaru Village in North Lombok — your base before the trek begins. You can get here independently from Lombok Airport, Mataram, Senggigi, or wherever you're staying. If you'd like us to arrange transport or accommodation in Senaru, both are available as add-ons — just mention it when you book.

Once you're settled in Senaru, your guide walks you through the full program, answers every question, and makes sure you know what to expect. Good dinner, early sleep — tomorrow, the mountain starts.

1Trek Day 1
Open Savanna. Your First Glimpse of What's Ahead. ~7 Hours trekking · Sembalun Village → Sembalun Crater Rim 2,600m "The Sembalun trail doesn't hide what it is. From the first step, Rinjani is right there — visible, towering, real."

After breakfast at the homestay, we drive to Sembalun Village where the trek officially begins. The first half of the day crosses open savanna — wide, golden fields with Rinjani ahead of you the entire time. Your porter team handles your gear and prepares lunch at Post 2 while you rest and take in the landscape.

By late afternoon, you reach Sembalun Crater Rim at 2,600 meters — your first campsite above the clouds. The view here is the first reveal: Segara Anak Lake sits far below in the caldera, its turquoise surface framed by ancient volcanic walls. Dinner at camp as the sun sets. Tomorrow, you go higher.

2Summit Day
The Summit Comes Before Sunrise. ~10 Hours · Summit 3,726m → Segara Anak Lake 2,000m "You start in darkness. You finish the day watching the lake catch the last light of the afternoon."

Wake-up at 1:30 AM. Hot drink, light snack, and the final climb begins at 2:30 AM. The summit push is the hardest part of the entire trek — steep, volcanic, and cold — but most trekkers reach the top within 3 hours. What greets you there: the full sunrise, three islands on the horizon, and the entire Segara Anak caldera spread out below.

After descending back to camp for a proper breakfast and rest, the afternoon drops you into the caldera itself — to Segara Anak Lake at 2,000 meters. Hot springs wait at the water's edge. You swim, soak, and recover. Dinner by the lake. This is the night most trekkers call the best of the trip.

3Lake Day + Senaru RIM
A Morning at the Lake. An Afternoon Above It. ~6 Hours Trekking · Segara Anak Lake → Senaru Crater Rim 2,641m "This is the day the program earns its name. Slow, full, and impossible to rush."

This is what makes this program different from the others. The morning is yours. Swim in the lake. Fish from the shore. Return to the hot springs one more time. Have breakfast with no schedule until noon. Most Rinjani programs don't give you this — and this is the part people talk about when they get home.

After lunch, you climb to Senaru Crater Rim — the second crater rim of the program, at 2,641 meters. The view from here looks out over the north face of Lombok and feels completely different from Sembalun. This is your third night on the mountain, and it's a quiet one — dinner at camp as the forest goes still around you.n.

4Finish
Through the Rainforest. Back to the World. ~5 Hours trekking · Senaru Crater Rim → Senaru Village · Transfer Out "The descent through Senaru's forest is the quiet, green bookend to everything that came before it."

The final day descends through Senaru's lush tropical forest — a completely different environment from where you started in Sembalun. Dense canopy, cool air, and a trail that gradually brings you back to the sounds of the village. You arrive at Senaru around midday.

From there, our driver transfers you to wherever you need to go — hotel, airport, or the next stop on your Lombok journey. Trek complete. Four days. Two crater rims. One summit. And a lake you'll describe to people for years.

FAQ Frequently Asked Questions
Rinjani is challenging — especially the summit push, which involves 3+ hours of steep volcanic trail starting at 2:30 AM. Our programs are designed with steady pacing so most trekkers with reasonable fitness complete them successfully. You don't need prior mountaineering experience, but you do need to be able to walk 6–10 hours and commit to an early morning start.
Choose Summit & Torean (4D3N) for the most dramatic scenery — waterfalls, caves, and jungle. Choose Sembalun–Senaru (4D3N) for a relaxed pace with more time at the lake. Choose 3D2N if you're experienced and want everything compressed. Choose 2D1N Summit Attack if you only want the top. Choose Second Summit (Package F) for a hidden gem with a unique view.
No. Most of our trekkers are doing their first high-altitude trek here. Our guides support all fitness levels and adjust pace accordingly. What matters more is physical preparation — cardio fitness, leg strength, and good sleep before the trek.
April through December is trekking season. The dry months (May–August) offer the clearest summit views and most stable conditions. The mountain closes January–March during the wet season. Aim for May, June, or July for the best experience.
Quality camping tents set up by our team at designated campsites — tent, sleeping bag, mattress, and pillow. Luxury packages also include camping chairs and a table at every campsite. You're not eating dinner cross-legged on the ground after a 10-hour trek.
Better than you'd expect. Our porter team cooks full meals at every campsite — pancakes or omelettes in the morning, fried rice or noodle dishes at lunch, curries or gado-gado for dinner. Fresh fruit, soft drinks, biscuits, and hot drinks throughout. Vegetarian options available.
Yes — genuinely hot. The natural hot springs sit right at the lake's edge, fed by geothermal activity. After a day that includes a summit climb, soaking here with a volcanic crater lake in front of you is exactly as good as it sounds. Most trekkers call it the highlight of the trip.
