Second Summit (Sangkareang) 2D1N
The second summit at 3,112m, taller than almost every mountain in Java. The most accessible way to stand on a real Rinjani peak, and…
"Two Crater Rims. One Summit. Zero Rush."
Mount Rinjani 4D3N · Via Sembalun → Senaru · Dual Crater Rim · Slow Program
Most Rinjani packages rush you through the mountain to check off boxes. This one is built differently. The 4D3N Sembalun–Senaru program is a slow, complete Rinjani experience, designed for trekkers who want to see everything the mountain offers without spending the whole journey catching their breath. You reach the summit. You spend time at the lake. You cross both crater rims. And you have enough downtime in between to actually feel it.
Starting from Sembalun and finishing at Senaru, this route gives you a traverse across the mountain, two very different trails, two very different views, one complete picture of what Rinjani really is. It’s the route guides recommend when someone asks which program they should do first.
Sembalun Village
Senaru Village
4 Days · 3 Nights
Moderate · Slow Program
Head to Senaru Village in North Lombok, your base before the trek begins. Transport and accommodation are available as add-ons. Once you're in Senaru, your guide walks you through the full program, answers every question, and makes sure you know what to expect. Good dinner, early sleep, tomorrow the mountain starts.
After breakfast, we drive to Sembalun Village where the trek officially begins. The first half of the day crosses open savanna, wide golden fields with Rinjani ahead of you the entire time. Your porter team handles your gear and prepares lunch at Post 2.
By late afternoon, you reach Sembalun Crater Rim at 2,600 meters, your first campsite above the clouds. Segara Anak Lake sits far below in the caldera. Dinner at camp as the sun sets.
Wake-up at 1:30 AM. Hot drink, light snack, and the final climb begins at 2:30 AM. The summit push is the hardest part of the trek, steep, volcanic, and cold, but most trekkers reach the top within 3 hours. The full sunrise, three islands on the horizon, the entire caldera below.
After descending to camp for breakfast and rest, the afternoon drops into the caldera to Segara Anak Lake. Hot springs at the water's edge. Dinner by the lake. The night most trekkers call the best of the trip.
The morning is yours. Swim in the lake. Fish from the shore. Return to the hot springs one more time. Breakfast with no schedule until noon. Most Rinjani programs don't give you this.
After lunch, you climb to Senaru Crater Rim at 2,641 meters, the second rim of the program. The view here looks over the north face of Lombok and feels completely different from Sembalun. A quiet third night on the mountain.
The final day descends through Senaru's lush tropical forest, a completely different environment from where you started. Dense canopy, cool air, and a trail that gradually brings you back to the village. You arrive around midday. Four days. Two crater rims. One summit. And a lake you'll describe to people for years.
You bring yourself and the willingness to climb. We take care of the rest.
